Students really love the challenge of this game, they are using their logical thinking skills and problem solving skills as well as number sense to math the numbers to the picture. When they match all the pictures, the last number is the mystery number, also very exciting. It's the small things!

Experiences where children put the shapes within the lines expands their understanding of being able to see the individual parts in relation to the whole. It is also an opportunity for the students to show their creativity and imagination!
Yesterday, we learned how to play the Défi math game, called Logix. We learned the names and colours of the shapes in French, although some more practice may be needed. The students really enjoyed learning how to pay and successfully completed the first level as a group, fantastic team work! The concept of Logix is similar to that of Sudoku.
Once again, the Maker Mobile joined us at school for some great workshops. Justine, our instructor for the robot programming workshop, did a great job explaining how we have to be incredibly specific when we give a computer commands, there were some good laughs!
Check out the video for some pictures of what we did! Our défi mathématiques workbook begins with these cards games that are similar to the popular logic game Sudoku. Now that the game has been introduced, students can work independently or with a partner and complete the puzzles in their workbooks. Doing it as a class on the white board is also very exciting! Building confidence and working as a team one card at a time ;)
One of our math games from the program Défi Mathématique involving logic and process of elimination. Students must place all 9 shapes on their blank grid paper in the appropriate spots. They refer to the game card to figure out the right spots. This game gets tricky because only one shape can go in each spot and as the level gets higher, the game gets trickier! |
